On 14 June 2025, the 4th Red Cross Golf Tournament took place in glorious sunshine on the idyllic course of the Weitra-Hausschachen Golf Club. District centre manager Martin Gruber welcomed over 50 participants, including both experienced golfers and newcomers, with a small welcome gift. The tournament was ideal for golfers and non-golfers alike.
At 9.00 a.m., PGA golf coach Paul Rosiny gave an introduction and a special training session for those who had no previous golf experience. This offer was enthusiastically accepted by the participants and helped to promote the relaxed atmosphere of the event.
At 10:00 a.m., the official starting shot was fired for the tournament in the popular 4-man Texas Scramble mode. In this format, each member of a flight tees off and the best ball is played on. This gave all participants, regardless of their level of experience, the opportunity to play together and have fun playing golf. Catering during the round was provided by the employees of the Weitra district office, who provided refreshments and snacks at two refreshment stations.
The tournament was followed by the award ceremonies, at which President Gottfried Strondl of the
GC Weitra-Hausschachen and district centre manager Martin Gruber congratulated the successful participants on their placings.
To mark the inauguration of the newly installed children's tees, which now make the golf course even more attractive for younger guests, a tournament for young golfers was held for the first time at GC Weitra on 21 June 2025. 28 young participants took the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new perspective of the course and impressed with impressive results.
The day was not only characterised by sporting ambition - there was also plenty of fun for young and young-at-heart alike.
Whether playing on the pitch, letting off steam in the bouncy castle or enjoying a cosy barbecue afterwards, entertainment was guaranteed.
With this tournament, the new children's tees are officially opened and can now be played on to your heart's content. We look forward to many more exciting rounds! A big thank you to all those involved and supporters who have made this event possible - enjoy all the young golfers!
